3 Players that I Have Ranked Ahead of Consensus Rankings

We are just at the beginning of the league offseason, but there is no shortage of dynasty league fantasy rankings right now.  I just released my top 100 rankings for both Dynasty Superflex leagues and Dynasty 1QB leagues this past weekend.

Everyone has some varying opinions when it comes to player rankings and mine are no different.  Below are 3 players that I have ranked higher than the current consensus draft rankings.

I know that St. Brown is still very high in rankings, but I think he is being overlooked.  The consensus rankings currently have Amon-Ra as the WR6.  I have Amon-Ra St. Brown ranked as my WR 4 and I believe I will soon be moving him up higher.

The more that I think about it, I think it’s a slight to St. Brown that he isn’t in tier 1 with Ja’Marr Chase, Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Puka Nacua. Below are the stats of the top 5 wide receivers’ fantasy points over the past three seasons:

  1. Ja’Marr Chase-979.3 points
  2. Amon-Ra St. Brown-971.1 points
  3. Puka Nacua-880.1 points
  4. CeeDee Lamb-867.5 points
  5. Jaxon Smith-Njigba-762.7 points

Amon-Ra St. Brown is ranked number 2 and only behind Ja’Marr Chase by 8.2 points.  You can play the age card, but St. Brown and Chase are both 26 years old and Chase is the consensus number 1.  St. Brown is only 2 years older than Puka and Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

I believe that Chase should be the number 1 wide receiver, but I think St. Brown should be in the conversation as early as WR 2.  He has finished the season as the number 3 receiver for three years in a row.  He is consistent and he is durable as he has only missed 2 games in his career.

Puka Nacua has been an amazing receiver since he first stepped into the NFL, however the whole reason he slipped into the fifth round of the draft was that he had a long history of injuries in college.  He had a clean rookie season as far as that goes, but he has missed time in each of the past two seasons.  He has great upside and talent, but when a first-round pick turns into a bust, most of the time it is because of an injury plagued year.  St. Brown’s durability makes him feel like a safer pick.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba had an incredible year last year.  He ended the season as the number two receiver in fantasy, and he was the offensive player of the year.  He is extremely talented and certainly worth taking as a tier one receiver after a year like that.  However, in 2024 he ended the season as the 9th ranked receiver and had 63 fewer points than St. Brown.  In 2023 he finished as the 47th ranked receiver while again St. Brown was the 3rd ranked receiver in PPR fantasy leagues.

I am not taking away from the talent of Puka Nacua and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, but I am arguing that Amon-Ra St. Brown deserves to be placed in tier one and maybe even should be as high as WR 2.

Zay Flowers is an interesting fantasy prospect.  He has been in the league for three years, and each year he has climbed in the PPR wide receiver rankings.  However, people still want to push him down draft boards.

Flowers entered the league in 2023 and quickly became the number one receiver for the Baltimore Ravens.  He has a unique ability to put defenders on skates which allows him to get open frequently and get plenty of yards after the catch.  Below are Zay Flowers’ statistics over his first three seasons:

2023: He ended the season as WR 31, with 858 yards and 5 touchdowns.

2024: Flowers ended the fantasy season as WR 25, with 1,059 yards and 4 touchdowns (he was also voted to his first Pro Bowl).

2025: Zay Flowers finished the year as WR 7 with 1,211 yards and 5 touchdowns (he was voted to his second Pro Bowl).

Right now, the consensus rankings have Zay Flowers at WR 21, and I have heard people argue that it should be lower. I believe he should be higher.  I have him at WR 16 in my rankings right now.  Let’s use Jaxon Smith-Njigba as a measuring stick.  No one will argue against JSN being a top tier selection in the upcoming season.

As noted above, Flowers finished WR 31, WR 25 and WR 9 in his first three seasons.  Jaxon Smith Njigba on the other has finished 47th, 9th and 2nd.  Njigba deserves to be higher and in tier one, but Flowers had a better rookie season and was a top 10 receiver as well last year.

I think Flowers gets overlooked because he is on a run-heavy team.  However, coming into this year I believe that he has taken over as the number one target in Baltimore where earlier in his career he was competing with Mark Andrews.  The Ravens have also lost Isaiah Likely and DeAndre Hopkins, so I think Flowers Targets will only go up. I understand that he isn’t a top tier WR 1, but I think that he is a top 20 fantasy football receiver.

Bucky Irving burst onto the scene as a rookie in 2024.  He started the season in a split backfield with Rachaad White.  In fact, he didn’t consistently start getting double-digit carries until the second half of the season.  At the end of the season, he still had 1,514 total yards and 8 touchdowns.  Irving averaged 14.4 points per game that season.  However, from week 10 on, when he became more involved in the offense, he averaged 18.26 points per game.

Last season was an injury-plagued season for Bucky Irving, but I believe he will get back to form this coming season.  Right now, I have Bucky Irving set as my RB 9, but I may move him down to RB10 below Chase Brown, who has been consistent the past couple of seasons.  However, on the consensus rankings Irving is still behind Kenneth Walker, TreVeyon Henderson and Breece Hall.

Kenneth Walker came into the league with a ton of talent but has been held back by injuries and a shared backfield with Zach Charbonnet.  Last season Walker played all 17 games but averaged only 11.3 points per game.  Walker is absolutely an intriguing pick this year with his move to Kansas City, where he should have a workhorse role as long as the Chiefs don’t add anyone to eat into his carries.  I can see why people are pushing Walker up draft boards, but we haven’t seen him have a season like Bucky Irving had his rookie year yet.  For this reason, I think I would bet on Bucky Irving coming back strong over Kenneth Walker finally breaking out.

Trevyon Henderson entered 2025 as an immensely talented prospect. The Patriots drafted Henderson in the second-round last year, and he has the talent to be a big-time back.  The problem is the Patriots are using him in a committee backfield with Rhamondre Stevenson. Henderson ended last season as the RB21 with 12.1 fantasy points per game and he played all 17 games.  While the upside with Henderson is high, Bucky Irving has proven to have the talent and has control of the Tampa Bay backfield.

Breece Hall is the other player that I’m taking Bucky Irving over.  Hall’s situation in New York is one of the most frustrating things.  I am a big fan of Hall, and I think the Jets have wasted a supreme talent.  They are using him in more of a committee with running backs that should only spell Hall when he needs a little rest.  Breece Hall was the RB19 last season. He played in 16 games and averaged 13.0 points per game.  Just as I talked about with Henderson, because of the committee backfield that the Jets run, I would take Bucky Irving over Breece Hall.

I think that these three players are getting the short end of the stick when it comes to consensus rankings.  They are players that have proven to be better than where they are being ranked. When it comes to draft day, I would keep an eye on these guys.  They all have time left in their careers and they could end up being some key pieces in your lineups week in and week out.
